“I told the app I wanted something inspiring, under 4 hours, with no war scenes. It gave me five perfect options. Finished one on my flight home.”

The Challenge
Every bookstore and reading app sorts by genre. Fantasy. Thriller. Romance. But genre tells you almost nothing about whether you will enjoy a specific book right now. A reader on a four-hour flight does not want an 800-page epic, even if epic fantasy is their favorite genre. Someone looking for something uplifting does not want grimdark, even though both fall under 'fantasy.' Existing discovery tools treat books like categories. Readers think about books as experiences.
What We Built
We built a recommendation engine that filters by experience, not just genre. Users set their current emotional preference, available reading time, and specific content attributes they want to include or exclude. The engine returns books that match all three dimensions. Looking for something inspiring under 300 pages with zero graphic violence? That is a three-second search, not a 30-minute browse through generic bestseller lists.
Key Features
Emotional Filters
Choose your desired emotional experience: inspiring, thrilling, comforting, thought-provoking, or adventurous. Results reflect mood, not just genre.
Reading Time Limits
Set how many hours you have available. The engine factors page count and average reading speed to recommend books you can actually finish.
Exclusion Logic
Define what you do not want. Exclude specific themes, content types, or stylistic elements. No more unwanted surprises at chapter five.
Dynamic Range Setting
Percentage-based sliders for attributes like pacing, complexity, and humor. Fine-tune until the results feel exactly right.
Granular Theme Control
Go beyond broad genres. Select specific themes like 'found family,' 'political intrigue,' or 'single POV' for precise matching.
Personal Library
Save books to read-later lists. Track what you have finished. The engine improves recommendations based on your history.
