“I checked the app Friday night, saw the Bow was at the sweet spot for dry flies, and had my best Saturday in three years. Used to be a coin flip.”

The Challenge
Trout anglers in Alberta were driving hours to reach a river, only to find murky water from overnight rainfall or a closed season they did not check. The data existed across scattered government websites and regional reports. But nobody was aggregating it into something an angler could check from their truck at 5 AM before deciding where to drive. Every wasted trip cost gas money and a full morning.
What We Built
We built a centralized dashboard that pulls live river flows, water temperatures, and clarity reports into one screen. The app covers the Bow River south of Calgary and extends to major trout waters across the region. Hatch charts show which insects are active so anglers can match their flies to what is actually on the water. Open/closed status checks and stocking reports round out the data. One app replaced six government websites and a stack of bookmarked PDFs.
Key Features
Real-Time Hydrometrics
Live river flow rates and water temperature updated throughout the day. Critical for deciding whether a river is fishable before driving out.
Clarity Reports
Periodic updates on water visibility. Blown-out rivers flagged clearly so anglers skip them and head to clearer stretches.
Hatch Charts
Detailed insect activity data by season and region. Match your fly selection to what trout are actually feeding on right now.
Regulatory Status
Instant open or closed checks for specific water bodies. Stay legal without digging through provincial regulation PDFs.
Stocking Reports
Integrated data on recently stocked lakes. Find high-yield trout locations before other anglers figure it out.
Daily Analysis
Expert commentary on current conditions with recommendations for which stretches are fishing best today.
